Leather Care Interval Calculator
Get a conditioning schedule matched to leather type and climate.
Tool Operation Area
Builds a maintenance interval and care plan from leather type, usage frequency and the climate the item lives in.
How It Works
- Each tannage has a baseline conditioning interval reflecting how quickly its fats and finish deplete.
- Daily-carry items are handled and flexed constantly, so the interval shortens; occasional items stretch it out.
- Extreme climates — very dry or very humid — pull the interval in further.
- Cleaning runs roughly three times as often as conditioning, since surface dirt accumulates faster than oils deplete.

How to Use
- 1Pick the tannage; if unsure, vegetable-tanned leather darkens with water and chrome-tanned does not.
- 2Set an actual calendar reminder for the returned interval.
- 3Always test any product on a hidden area first.
FAQ
Can I over-condition leather?
Yes. Excess oil breaks down fibre structure and leaves the leather limp and greasy.
What about rain?
Let it dry naturally, then condition once fully dry — never before.
Does patina need conditioning?
Light conditioning preserves patina; heavy oiling flattens the colour variation.
How do I store leather goods?
Cool, dark, ventilated, stuffed to keep shape, never in a sealed plastic bag.
